Terry Atkins
Marine Training Consultant
After leaving school in 1971 aged 15, Terry Atkins joined the Royal Navy, serving for 8 years. Following this he joined Hampshire Constabulary for 27 years up until 2006.
He was involved predominantly in Traffic & Firearms Operations, completing his final three years as an instructor at a Police Training Academy. He was then a consultant with the Highways Agency, (now Highways England) assisting in the setting up of the training program for the Highways Agency Traffic Officer Service, and Major Incident Management training.
He was also an associate lecturer at De Montfort University in Leicester, delivering training for PCSO’s employed by Leicestershire Constabulary. Terry then returned to sea in 2008 as chief security officer on numerous large & small cruise liners for Princess Cruises.
In 2013, he took up a position in aviation security at Manston Airport until its closure in May 2014 when he became a surveyor with the Office for National Statistics.
Terry joined in 2015 bringing his experience and knowledge to the to the Viking team and has helped make the Maritime Skills Academy an excellent training facility.
