Ian Milstead
Maritime Safety Instructor
Ian Milstead grew up by the sea and during his childhood he has spent many days afloat sailing and power boating.
Since leaving school Ian’s career has taken him aboard P&O Ferries where he ran the bars for 6 years. He then joined Kent Fire brigade for 5 years as a Retained firefighter where he attended many shouts and incidents in the South East Kent.
In 2004 Ian decided to explore the world with an option to work aboard superyachts in the Mediterranean and Indian ocean, after intensive training he spent the next 10 years gaining MCA/OOW qualifications with command and control experience of running sail and motor yachts up to 50mtrs.
He is now using this knowledge to pass on to delegates at the Maritime Skills Academy.
