MSA and University of Gibraltar announce brand new training partnership
The Maritime Skills Academy (part of the Viking Maritime Group) has announced the launch of a training partnership with the University of Gibraltar.
MSA Gibraltar is a fully integrated partnership with the University of Gibraltar and a significant move to be positioned in Southern Europe. The partnership means that the MSA can now offer clients an additional location option, in addition to their UK bases in Dover and Portsmouth, with the highest standards of training standards.
For operators who also have vessels in the Mediterranean or who use Gibraltar for visits, bunkering, and crew changes, the facilities the University and the MSA provide are second to none and a perfect solution for their crew training needs.
The initial STCW courses that will be offered by the MSA at the University are:
- Basic Safety Training (BST)
- Updated Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (UFPFF)
- Updated Advanced Fire Fighting (UAFF) (coming soon)
- Updated Personal Survival Techniques (UPST)
Further STCW courses which include Medical First Aid, Proficiency in Medical Care and Fast Rescue Boat will be launched throughout 2023.
Mark Jaenicke, Training & Performance Director at the Viking Maritime Group said, “We are delighted to develop our training portfolio with the University of Gibraltar. This partnership is an exciting step for the MSA as we continue to expand to more global locations.”
Aaron Lopez, Maritime Academy Manager at the University of Gibraltar said, “This partnership with Viking allows the University to add to its well-established portfolio of world-class Maritime education and training, further supporting Gibraltar’s status as a Maritime Centre of Excellence.”
