MCA Approved Engine Course 1 (AEC1)

The course is approved by the UK’s Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) and is ideal for the owners or operators of small inshore and pleasure vessels. The AEC could also be the first step into the engineering department of a superyacht.

The course is designed to give delegates knowledge about the general care and maintenance to keep engines on smaller vessels in good operational order.

The aim of the course is to enable students to be able to complete all the necessary checks and actions required to keep the engine operating when the boat is being used.

Delivery of the content is split into both classroom activities and practical application. The basic operation of engines and their support systems will be covered as well as the checks and fault finding required using actual systems fitted to boats.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • There is no entry qualification specified to join this course.

Certification

Delegates will be required to successfully complete a short written exam and then will be issued with an Approved Engine Course 1 (AEC1) Course Certificate
