Description
Specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace, this course is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities. Taught over one day, you will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations in the workplace.
Upon completion of this course, you will be capable of:
- Assessing an emergency situation safely
- Providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty
- Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Providing first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
- Knowing how to provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Knowing how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
This course can be taught at the Maritime Skills Academy in Dover, Portsmouth, or for group bookings at a location of your choice in Kent.
Prerequisites
- Be at least 14 years of age.
- Due to the physical nature of this course, learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, i.e. trousers and flat footwear.
- This course does require physical work that is carried out on the floor so anyone with injuries that prevent them from doing so will be unable to complete the course and will have to re-book once they are fit and well.
- Ensure that you bring with you photo ID; for example, Driving Licence or Passport
Certification
Practical Assessments: will consist of the following and will take place throughout the course:
- CPR and safe use of an AED
- Choking casualty
- Wounds, bleeding, and shock
- Catastrophic bleeding
Theory Assessment: will consist of one multiple choice paper which is to be sat under exam conditions.
Once you have successfully passed, you will receive an electronic certificate directly from Qualsafe. Please allow up to five working days from completion of course.
