Description
The Qualsafe Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who want to increase their awareness of fire safety in the workplace.
Candidates will learn basic fire safety principles in order to ensure they are keeping themselves and others in the workplace safe at all times. They will also learn what to do in the event of an emergency and the simple measures that can be taken to control the risk of fires.
This half day course is an ideal way to ensure that all employees have a good understanding of fire safety, whilst minimising disruption to your organisation’s day to day activity
What is covered?
- Causes of fires in the workplace
- The costs of fires in the workplace for employers, employees and society
- Basic fire safety duties and responsibilities
- Actions to be taken in the event of a fire
- Principles of fire risk control (including the fire triangle)
- Safe use of portable firefighting equipment (extinguishers)
- Fire safety equipment checks

Centre Approved by Qualsafe Awards, an Awarding Organisation recognised by Ofqual to offer regulated qualifications.
Prerequisites
- Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.
- There are no other formal entry requirements but we strongly recommend that learners have a minimum of level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
- Due to the practical nature of this course, learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear e.g: trousers and flat footwear

Certification
This course will include practical use of portable fire extinguishers.
Theory Assessment: will consist of one multiple choice paper which is to be sat under exam conditions.
Once you have successfully passed, you will receive an electronic certificate directly from Qualsafe. Please allow up to 5 working days from completion of course to received this.
