A basic level of fitness is required to complete the practical elements of the course. There is no pre-learning required but a basic understanding of the current procedures within your organisation would be advantageous.
Course Overview:
The First Aid at Work training course is aimed at all persons who wish to gain a full and comprehensive knowledge and the skills needed by First Aiders in the work place to deal with first aid emergencies.
The course meets the standards required to comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations.
The course will cover a number of aspects which include:
- The role of the First Aider
- Head Injuries
- Managing an Emergency
- Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations
- Communication and Casualty Care
- Low Blood Sugar
- Asthma
- Poisoning
- Bleeding (minor and severe)
- Resuscitation (adult CPR)
- Bone, Muscle and Joint Injuries
- Seizures (adult)
- Burns and Scalds
- Severe Allergic Reaction
- Chest Pains (including Heart Attack)
- Shock
- Choking (adult)
- Spinal Injuries
- Eye Injuries
- Stroke
- Fainting
- Unconscious Casualty
The course will include videos, group discussions, trainer led presentations, practical use of first aid equipment and simulation based exercises.
Delegates will be assessed throughout the course.
Trainer to delegate ratio of 1:12 throughout.
Upon completion of the course you will be presented with the original certificate.

3 days (there will be refreshment breaks and 1hr lunch break each day. Hot and cold beverages provided)
