Course Dates: Please contact us directly for costs and to arrange a date that is suitable for you.
A basic level of fitness is required to complete the practical elements of the course. There is no pre-learning required but a basic understanding of the current procedures within your organisation would be advantageous. Download and fill in the course forms (declarations) before booking.
This 5-day course trains bridge watchkeeping officers in the efficient and secure use of Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems (ECDIS), in line with the guidance provided by IMO Model Course 1.27 for generic ECDIS training. The course is also approved for type-specific training on Transas Navi-Sailor 4000.
The training aims are to equip delegates with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to keep a safe navigational watch using ECDIS, interfaced with other onboard equipment to maintain safety of navigation. By course end, delegates have to demonstrate competence in using ECDIS to maintain a safe navigation watch as a part of effective bridge resource management.
Training is undertaken in a dedicated ECDIS training room at MSA Solent and is focussed on the use of ECDIS under a range of voyage conditions, including pilotages, coastal transits and ocean passages. Our highly experienced instructors provide all the necessary underpinning knowledge for the efficient and secure use of ECDIS, while use of the latest desktop ECDIS simulators enables delegates to practice an extensive range of scenarios to reinforce the theory elements.
After successful completion of the course, delegates will be issued with UK MCA-approved STCW certification.
5 days (there will be refreshment breaks and 1hr lunch break each day. Hot and cold beverages provided)
